Service Description

The perinatal period (pregnancy through the first year of postpartum) is often filled with many emotions, challenges and transitions! Expecting parents & new (or new again) parents may encounter a wide range of mental health experiences during this time of immense physical, emotional and social change. This informative and interactive training will help lay the foundation for supporting therapy participants as they navigate family planning, pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Participants will become familiar with key concepts that arise during the prenatal and postpartum period. This training will explore assessment skills and therapeutic approaches to treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) and other common clinical concerns. Clinicians of all levels and experience are welcome. Training Objectives: Review common diagnoses and clinical themes encountered during the perinatal period. Explore assessment skills in order to improve conceptualization of a client’s cultural background, risk and protective factors, and holistic needs. Identify therapeutic approaches and skills to best support clients during and surrounding the perinatal period.
