AMK Counseling

AMK Nonprofit

AMK hosted our first ever Fundraising event:

The Art of Giving on January 27th, 2024

AMK Counseling is committed to creating more equitable systems and access to mental health services in our greater Chicagoland community. For over 12 years, we have supported this mission through activism, learning, listening, and supporting individuals and families in need. We partner with community organizations to provide mental health services to marginalized populations who typically cannot afford or access the help they need.

Couldn’t attend the January 27th event? You can still support our mission by donating here.

We advocate for those who have been overlooked by providing high-quality services at a low cost.  As a private practice, we can build authentic relationships with people in need. Many community mental health facilities that seek to serve these populations struggle because they lack the funds and staff.

We need your support to fill the gap left by the current community mental health system. By extending the reach of our counseling services, we can lift up our entire community. We need partnerships and donations to build these relationships, advocate for the underserved, and help our staff learn and grow so we can best serve our current and future clients.

To provide more equitable access to mental health services, AMK offers scholarships and sliding scale fees to as many clients in need as possible. We are strategic and thoughtful about how we extend our reach, choosing partners that are mission-based, grass-roots, and led by people of color.

AMK NFP is an extension to the founding business, AMK Counseling. AMK Counseling already has offices, skilled therapists, amazing supervisors and a wonderful administrative team in place. AMK Counseling has the overhead like rent, utilities, management systems, admin costs and supplies covered! Which means that any funds raised go directly to the people in need!

AMK Partners with Cristo Rey Jesuit High School to provide counseling to current and alumni students free of charge. Cristo Rey Jesuit High School provides a Catholic, college preparatory education and professional work experience to students from Spanish-speaking families with limited financial means.

The reason for the school’s existence is to advance the human and intellectual capacities, as well as the religious and cultural heritage, of the immigrant families it serves. Through its Corporate Work Study Program, faith-based college preparatory education, and Spanish heritage language curriculum, the goal is to prepare students to succeed in college and to assume leadership roles in the civic, religious, business, and cultural life of our city and nation.

Currently AMK is partnering with Girl Forward to offer full scholarship counseling slots to mentees in need.  Girl Forward is dedicated to creating and enhancing opportunities for girls in grades 9-12 who are refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers.  Please check out GirlForward.org to learn more about the remarkable work of this organization!

Girl Forward’s mentoring program pairs girls with mentors to engage in “4W” activities (Wellness, Wisdom, Wallet and World) in order to explore their passions and graduate from high school. Girls are paired with women mentors within the local community for at least one school year, and they meet together at least two hours weekly to talk about anything from school, to relationships, to careers.

Additionally, AMK is partnering with Educate & Create, a Non Profit Organization created to service youth and young adults. Educate & Create strives to provide opportunities for mentorship, public service, and developmental programs. Their vision is to educate minds and create pathways for future success.   AMK therapists provide consultation to the mentoring curriculum, as well as general support to the organization as it grows. AMK also offers individual counseling to Educate & Create mentees through full scholarship slots. To learn more please visit EducateandCreate.org

We are always looking to partner with new organizations that can help us achieve equitable access to mental health services. We can provide workshops, psychoeducation groups, support groups, skill-based groups, speaking engagements, and training to organizations/communities in need.
