About

This on-demand training program is designed to equip clinicians with the tools and skills needed to effectively apply Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in individual therapy sessions. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the core principles of ACT, including acceptance, cognitive defusion, mindfulness, self-as-context, values clarification, and committed action. The course will guide clinicians through the process of taking these concepts from initial conceptualization to real-world clinical implementation, providing actionable strategies to integrate ACT techniques into their practice. The training utilizes numerous case examples and practice exercises to enhance learning and application. This training is suitable for clinicians at all levels of experience, from those new to ACT to those with a more intermediate understanding of the approach. No prior experience with ACT is necessary, as the course is tailored to meet the needs of mental health professionals who are looking to build or refine their knowledge of this evidence-based therapy. By the end of the program, clinicians will feel confident in using ACT to help clients increase psychological flexibility, reduce distress, and live more value-driven lives. Objectives: Develop familiarity with Relational Frame Theory and how it informs ACT Deepen understanding of ACT psychological flexibility model and the 6 core processes of change Improve ability to assess for psychological inflexibility processes and patterns within clients Learn strategies to target, model and support the core processes of change Increase understanding of the interplay between flexibility processes to help inform conceptualization and treatment planning Practice applying assessment, conceptualization, and intervention skills using case examples Details: Eligible for 3.5 Continuing Education (CE) Credits through NBCC ACEP No. 7277
