Service Description

Autism Spectrum Disorder in Children: Clinical Foundations and Support Strategies This training provides clinicians with a foundational understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children, with an emphasis on practical application in clinical settings. Participants will review core characteristics of ASD, developmental presentations across childhood, and considerations for support. The training will also explore common co-occurring challenges, social emotional needs, and ways to collaborate effectively with families and schools. Clinicians will gain strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and adaptive functioning while using strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approaches. Training objectives: 1. Increase clinical understanding, signs, symptoms and challenges of ASD in children. 2. Strengthen assessment skills for additional support and referral practices. 3. Learn practical skills and interventions to implement neurodiversity-affirming care Bio of presenter: Ashley Robinson, LCPC, is the Chief Clinical Officer, supervisor, and psychotherapist at AMK Counseling in Chicago, IL. She provides collaborative, strengths-based therapy in a safe and nonjudgmental space, tailoring her approach to each client’s goals and interests to foster meaningful growth. With over 10 years of experience across hospital, residential, outpatient, and ABA settings, Ashley works with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, grief/loss, depression, postpartum concerns, family relationships, addiction, OCD, self-esteem, and life transitions. She is passionate about disrupting unhelpful generational cycles, building confidence, and expanding access to mental health care in underserved communities. AMK Counseling has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 7277. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. AMK Counseling is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
