James Yoon, MSW, LSW
I believe that every person who steps into therapy deserves to be treated with respect, kindness, and care. My ultimate goal as a therapist is to help those I work with to become the best version of themselves by working through their personal experiences, cultural differences, trauma, and life transitions. I strive to help each person develop the tools and skills they need to overcome their difficulties.
I have experience working with all age groups in various settings including schools, hospitals, faith-based organizations, and non-profit organizations. My focus has been with children and young adults who experience mood and anxiety disorders such as depression, social anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, phobias, and adjustment disorder. I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where my clients have the freedom to fully express themselves. I have the gold standard of training for OCD & ERP and I have been trained in SPACE.
My approach is holistic, collaborative, and driven by the personal story of each individual. My work draws from several different clinical modalities:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Family Systems Therapy
- Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
- Relational Therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Play Therapy
- Art Therapy
- Strength-Based Therapy
- SPACE trained out of Yale Child Study Center; Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions
