Sarah Schufreider
MSW, LCSW
Therapist
With over 17 years of experience in the field, I’ve pretty much seen it all – from the everyday stresses to the big life curveballs and everything in between. Specializing in menopause, prenatal and postnatal health, anxiety, depression, grief, interpersonal violence, parenting and trauma, I work to foster a space that allows clients to create tangible and meaningful change in their lives. My approach? I work to create a safe, warm, judgement-free, and trauma-informed space that balances people’s emotional and practical needs.
While I work with adults of all ages, I have a particular interest and passion for working with people during their mid-life, especially women who are approaching perimenopause and menopause. People in midlife are navigating unique life challenges including managing the demands of work/life balance, caregiving for children and aging parents, adjusting to aging bodies and changing hormones, relationship needs, and evaluating life priorities and goals. In a world that idealizes youth, I aim to create a space where the needs of people in mid-life are seen, validated, and celebrated. As such, I create an individualized experience that honors the client’s goals and strengths.
Whether you’re navigating relationship woes, health issues, battling anxiety, struggling with career burnout, or dealing with the aftermath of past trauma, I’m here to help you find your way. My therapy style focuses on creating a space where the client gets to be the expert in their own lives, where a client’s strengths are highlighted, and where the client’s goals lead the direction of therapy.
Additionally, I work from a trauma-informed ideology which means that I recognize the pervasive impact of trauma and integrate this understanding into all aspects of care. In our work together, that means that I understand that our work is not just about healing wounds; it’s about reclaiming power and rebuilding resilience. This approach allows me to focus on the mind/body connection and integrate holistic techniques such as therapeutic, trauma-informed yoga, meditation, and breathing techniques. I’m grateful that my skills as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) compliment my clinical therapy work so seamlessly.Certificatations:* Bria Menopause Mental Health Certificate* Therapeutic Yoga Certificate*Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200)* Masters of Social Work with Trauma Certificate from Boston University
