Therapist
I believe that therapy can enrich people's lives and relationships. It takes strength and courage to reach out for help, and oftentimes the first step is the most difficult. That’s why I emphasize on the development of a trusting relationship before anything else. I use a client-centered approach to help foster a warm and non judgemental environment where my clients can feel confident to explore and make changes to help improve their quality of life. I value the use of play, humor, and warmth to create an enjoyable setting for the therapeutic process to occur. A typical child session with me may include the use of games, art, play, and discussions about your interests interspersed between therapeutic interventions. With adults, I tend to focus on what brings you into this space, the personal goals you want to make, and building comfort around the therapeutic process.
My clinical specialties include working with children and adolescents who are experiencing depression, have a history of trauma, anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulties maintaining executive functioning skills (ADHD), and other mood disorders, as well as some ABA therapy for children on the Autism Spectrum.
I also enjoy working with young professionals and adults in exploring and giving voice to their inner child, working through their anxieties, learning to balance work and home life, exploring life transitions (adjustment from college into the workforce, relationship changes, bereavement, first time parents, etc) and coping with the stressors of life in general. I have an affinity working with individuals who struggle with OCD and use an ERP approach to help them learn to cope and live with their diagnosis. Additionally, I find value in helping adults with ADHD gain a sense of control and building mastery of their executive functioning skills to help make improvements in their day to day struggles.
I find great success in an integrative approach, tailoring techniques that best fit the client. My clinical approaches include:
● Strength-Based Therapy
● Psychotherapy
● Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
● Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
● Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
● Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
● Play Therapy
● Solution Focused Therapy
● Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Additionally, I am SPACE trained based out of the Yale Child Study Center (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions).
